I copied this game from Emily at Sugar Plum Blog.   I thought it sounded like fun!  Feel free to play along, too.

This is supposed to be limoncello.  I didn't look up directions or a recipe before I started making it, though, so it's not actually limoncello.  I thought I knew what to do - soak some lemons in vodka and voila! Limoncello!  Wrong. Apparently, you are only supposed to soak the lemon rind in the vodka, not the whole lemon.  The good news is it turned out great!  It was sweet and fresh tasting.  I think I will make it again.  Here's what I did:

• large pitcher or jar, preferably one with a top
• 750 ml vodka
• 10 lemons
• 2.5 cups sugar
• 3.5 cups of water

I quartered all of the lemons and filled up my pitcher.  Then I poured the vodka over the lemons and let it sit for 2+ weeks.  Next, I strained all of the lemon from the vodka and added simple syrup.


simple syrup:
Stir the water and sugar in a large pot over medium heat until the sugar dissolves, about 5 minutes.  Let cool.
